It was in Funchal that the exploration of Madeira by portuguese colonizers started, in the XV century, and ever since then the city has grown to hold half of the entire population of the island. Being the capital it is normal that here is where most of Madeira's life is located, from the cruise docks, to the hotel and casino areas, to the markets and even the older streets that have been there almost since it's inception, Funchal is great to see and explore, also because it is where most of the islands transportation meets, like buses and lifts that will take you to explore the steep hills of Madeira.

**Pestana CR7 Funchal **is the hotel dedicated to the famous islander football player, *Cristiano Ronaldo.* The hotel is equipped with a *museum* that holds the player's many trophies and one of his statues is in the street, right next to the entrance (it's not easy to miss). 

Located right next to the bay of Funchal is the hotel dedicated to  famous portuguese football player, Cristiano Ronaldo. Pestana CR7, like the one in Lisbon, has extensive decor celebrating the player, but in Funchal, he's hometown, the hotel holds a big museum on him and his achievements (having some of his trophies and medals from over the years). The entrance as a recognizable metal statue of Ronaldo welcoming the guests.

I am André Jesus, from Portugal. I grew up in the south, in a small city called Faro, the capital of the region of Algarve. I grew up loving to stroll and imagining fantasy worlds based on what I saw.
