Madeira's New Year Parties: Start the countdown on this island in Portugal

New Year’s Eve in Madeira has a stunning fireworks show, but as we all know, the best way to celebrate the arrival of the New Year is with some kind of **party! **And in Funchal the night is made for that.

If Reveillon Galas or Parties are what you are searching for, you will find quite some places who have dinner and a* great rooftop or balcony to watch the fireworks*, them being the casino or mostly hotels. After that, the party truly begins in some discotheques or bars with invited DJs hosting. With enough space for you to dance all night long.

Casino da Madeira, the only casino in the island. This building is based in a concept by world known architect Oscar Niemeyer. It also has restaurants and discotheques (Copacabana and Copacabana Garden) associated with it.

The Vine Hotel, this 5 star hotel is located on top of La Vie Shopping Center right in the heart of Funchal. It’s décor, made by Nini Andrade Silva, is inspired by the vines and the well known Madeira Wine.

**Café do Teatro is one of the most emblematic cafés in Madeira. Its name, which translates to Theater's Café, it’s because of its proximity to Teatro Municipal Baltazar Dias, an elegant theater build in 1888. The café is located right in the heart of Funchal close to the Municipal Garden.

**Pestana CR7 Funchal **is the hotel dedicated to the famous islander football player, Cristiano Ronaldo. The hotel is equipped with a museum that holds the player's many trophies and one of his statues is in the street, right next to the entrance (it's not easy to miss).

If you are on a bit of a tighter budget or big parties are not your type, then you will be surprised that just** being in Funchal all night long can be very great too.** After the fireworks the streets of Funchal get filled with people who get together to enjoy the night. And if you wonder about drinks or food, you’ll find in the center of Funchal the Christmas Fair, which sells traditional products from many producers from the island. And something Madeira is well known is for the alcoholic drinks. The city is filled with people almost till midday and the environment is pretty safe.

Warning: it is a big day in the island and places can get very crowded, so it is better for you to arrive to the places with some time in advance.
