What do you need to watch the World Cup Final carefree? A glass of cold beer? A good quality street food? Or a tremendous screen? I am now going to show you where to watch the biggest event of football, if you are in Budapest on Sunday. In case you are not fortunate enough to watch it in Moscow on site, but you will be in my country’s capital for some reasons on the big day, I would like to hand you a few tips on where to follow France vs Croatia in the heart of Europe. With a beer, wine or lemonade in your hand, and in a company of a tasty hamburger, you will be able to experience the encounter in the best possible way at these spots. So let’s not waste time, but let’s get it started!
Although, Nagyszünet and Budapest Park are basically an open-air cinema and a prestigious place for concerts during the year, the scene is understandably also in the grip of a football fever. You can watch the match on the high-quality screens, while the cold beverages and street food are on hand. The broadcast is naturally free, and the two nearby places will get connected for the time of the Final to provide even bigger space for the big night.
Liberty (or Szabadság) Square has evolved into the Downtown Football Cinema for the session of the World Cup with two giant screens, family and child programs, games, special guests, e-sports and a foot tennis court. On the square, you can eat and drink at the set-up booths. Dozens of tourists have come here to watch the fixtures of the World Cup from the very start of the tournament.
If you have no time to contemplate where to support your team, it’s quite an obvious choice to go to one of Budapest’s biggest plaza’s roof terrace. It’s already a tradition that at the downtown plaza, called WestEnd City Center, you have a chance to follow the actual football tournament, and it’s not otherwise in the case of this year’s World Cup either. Up to 1,500 people can gather here and watch the game on a 7-times-4-meter screen.
Kobuci Garden is again a concert spot during the year, but the World Cup changes everything as we all know. It’s a wide open for the lovers of football, and the garden has plenty of seats for the arrivals. A huge LED-screen is set up. Moreover, the entry is free. You just have to pay for your drinks and snacks.
On the Terrace Budapest on the March 15th Square, there is everything available, that is necessary for the perfect entertainment. A giant screen, barbecue dinner, nay, even home-made ice-cream and of course bunch of people, who have the same interest as you do.
Grund is one of Budapest’s most popular clubs in the district VIII, over the past years. As a part of the rapidly developing Corvin quarter, several hostels are awaiting foreigners on the promenade, who will surely watch the big game at Grund. Join them!
Well, I firmly believe, that now you have all the best options for where to follow France vs Croatia on Sunday, even though you practically don’t need any tips, as there is no street in the center of Budapest without at least one big-screened TV to watch the game on it. So, have fun and may the best win!
