The Pyramid of Merkinė, a magical place in Dzūkija woods

Surrounded by the dark Dzūkija National Park woods, in the middle of nowhere, there stands a shining glass dome with the mysterious pyramid inside. The brief history with the mysterious beginning

The story of the Pyramid of Merkinė starts in 1990, on the 20th of August. On that day, the seven years old boy Povilas Žėkas experienced a personal revelation. According to the stories, the boy was attending a mass at the Church of Merkinė, with his family member. Suddenly, the boy heard the voice in his mind introducing itself as the Guardian Angel of Povilas. More mysterious events happened a few nights after this incident - in the middle of the night a beautiful light with the figure of a man showed in the sky, solely for Povilas and his family. From that day, Povilas grew up knowing that he will have a special mission in the future. Twelve years passed, and Povilas built a sacred pyramid in the place where the light figure of the man has shown. The pyramid was build in the autumn of *2002 * for praying to recover physical health, gain positive energy, and retrieve spiritual peace. The rumor about this place went all over Lithuania. After the seven years, in 2009, the pyramid was covered with the geodesic glass dome. According to the hero of our story, Povilas, it needed to be decorated with "a final claim from the *God" *- the dome above the pyramid to fill the place with the Holy Spirit.

The Pyramid of Merkinė is located in Česukai village, 25 km from the Druskininkai city, and 105 km from Vilnius. Nowadays, the place is popular among all Lithuanians and attracts more and more visitors from abroad.
