Heidelberg is one of the most romantic cities in Germany with its famous castle ruins, the exquisite old bridge and magnificent nature. The city stands along the Neckar river, which inspired Mark Twain to write Huckleberry Finn. And trust me, Heidelberg’s culinary culture is as impressive as its landscapes. Heidelberg has endless options when it comes to food. Vegetarian/vegan or not, you can find food for every taste and every pocket. You can always enjoy your food with German beer or wine as well. Delicious food doesn't have to be expensive all the time, and to prove that, here is your budget-friendly food guide in Heidelberg

Joe Molese

Joe Molese is the best** burger shop** in Heidelberg- if not in the entire world. I am not joking, I had many burgers in my life and for some reason, l am still dreaming of the burgers in Joe Molese!  The food is not only incredibly tasty here but also varies, since you can enjoy different burgers every week. There are special menus and special prices on certain days of the week. Speaking of options, you can also have vegetarian and vegan versions of every burger, except for Angus beef burger. If you are not into burgers (how dare you), you can also enjoy the delicious Mediterranean meals, tasty salads, sandwiches, and pizzas! But I must mention; the restaurant is almost always full. You sometimes have to wait 30 to 45 minutes to find a place to sit! Well, it is all worth it in the end. If you don't want to wait, you can always have reservations to enjoy delicious burgers with a large selection of German and American drinks. You can also always watch football games inside the restaurant.

MoschMosch

At MoschMosch you can enjoy delicious, fast but healthy Japanese dishes. Even if you are vegan/vegetarian or you eat meat, you can enjoy various tasty ramen soups, fried pasta dishes, rice dishes from the wok or MoschPoké Bowls. You can also order any food and add the toppings of your choice and customize your own food as well! You also have to try their "Beyond Meat Niku Nashi", which looks like meat and tastes like meat, but is purely veggie, made from pea protein! It comes cut into strips, refined with the popular sweet Yakitori grill sauce and sprinkled with sesame seeds and Udonnudel. My favorite is definitely their ramen; Japanese noodles with vegetable broth!

Schnitzelbank

This cozy wine tavern offers you delicious** jam-packed **and regular veal and pork schnitzels served with excellent local wines! The Schnitzelbank has its own unique atmosphere with its wooden workbenches from the time when this was still a cooperage! And yes, you guessed it right, the benches in the interior gave the place its name. The name goes back to the times when it was a coopers' workshop, that made barrels for the local vintners.  Around 1900, the proprietors realized that selling wine instead of barrels was much more profitable, and certainly more fun.  Today, the tables are still the original old workbenches, which were used to make the barrels. And the food is a perfect match for this unique atmosphere!
