Created in 2003, the Rock en Seine is one of the biggest music summer festivals in Paris and France. This three-day event is held every year in the last weekend of August, in the most incredible Parc de* *Saint-Cloud, designed by the famous French gardener André Le Notre. In this park with the panoramic view of the French capital, thousands and thousands of festivalgoers have every year a great opportunity to attend concerts of some of the most famous French and international musicians, such as Foo Fighters, Green Day, Radiohead, Franz Ferdinand, PJ Harvey and, Rita Mitsouko. Families with children are also not forgotten, as there is a place called “Mini Rock” dedicated especially to them.
Rock en Seine appeared for the first time in August 2003. At the time, this summer festival had two stages and only ten bands performed. The following year, the festival was extended over two days and had become a place where festivalgoers could also visit the photo exhibitions. The “Avant-Seine” is inaugurated in 2005, aiming to put a spotlight on the Parisian rock scene. Today, the Rock en Seine is a three-day event with six stages and over 100 000 visitors. But, the thing that makes this festival so unique is also its location. The Rock en Seine takes place at the edge of Paris in the Parc de Saint-Cloud. This incredible park is probably one of the most beautiful gardens in Europe and is listed as a French historic monument since November 1994. Designed by Le Notre, this place has the most stunning view over the City of Light.
The mini Rock en Seine is a real mini-festival included in the main one,* **primarily dedicated to the children. Even if it is called mini, this space has the most original programming and most incredible animations. While you are listening to your favorite rock band, your little ones can play on a vast playground, attend culinary workshops or even learn how to become a real journalist. This "Mini Rock" area is open for children from 6 to 12 years old*. The entrance to the festival is free for children under 12, but they need to be accompanied, by minimum an adult with a ticket.
This summer festival is held every year in the last weekend of August and festival gates open at 2 pm on Friday and Saturday, and 1 pm on Sunday. Same as Lollapalooza, the Rock en Seine is a cashless summer festival in Paris. This means that for purchasing anything from meals to drinks or merchandise, you will need to get the “cashless” account. The “cashless” is a contactless payment system that helps you pay thanks to the chip on your wristband. This technic is very convenient and 100% secure. The best way to get to and from the Rock en Seine is by public transport.
