“La Casa de Papel,”** or Money Heist, has become a global phenomenon and one of the most-watched non-English series on Netflix. The series is truly well-made since the plot, the cast and the locations where it was filmed, are simply amazing. In the third part of “La Casa de Papel,” we find plenty of new locations - some of them outside Madrid. In this part, the robber band visited incredible places in the province of Segovia, which is near Madrid**.
Segovia is a city and a province in the autonomous region of Castile and León, Spain. The province of Segovia is approximately an hour away from Madrid and offers incredibly beautiful landscapes. “La Casa de Papel” made the most of this and filmed some of the scenes of the third season in the hermitage of San Frutos in Hoces de Duratón Natural Park and Abadía de Parraces.
You do not need to go to any Italian monastery as they make us believe in the series if you want to relive the third season of the “La Casa de Papel.” The big mansion, where Berlin pretends to be writing his treatise on theological philosophy, is actually only 140 km from Madrid, in the province of Segovia.
The hermitage of San Frutos sits defiantly on a promontory of the Hoces del Duratón Natural Park in Segovia. Its spectacular picture among the twisted meanders of this river has been used to represent the convent appearing in the last season of “La Casa de Papel.” Its interior is little like the one in Netflix fiction. The Romanesque style hermitage, which was built in the 12th century, is preserved and stands out for its simplicity and sobriety. It remains part of this ancient monastic complex. However, the place where the church is located is what really impresses the visitors. Located on the top of a canyon, the temple offers magnificent views over the Hoces del Duratón Natural Park.
It is a natural place very visited by those who live in big cities that seek to spend a day in nature. From the San Frutos viewpoint, you can have the best panoramic views of the Duraton River. The Hermitage of San Frutos is one of the places that have attracted the most attention to the fans of the series in the last season and no wonder why.
Let us continue with the monastery where Professor, Berlin and Palermo, plot that crazy plan to get the 90 tons of gold. The spectacular cloister that we see in this Netflix international series is not part of the mentioned Hermitage of San Frutos, but of a renovated farm that in real life is used for all kinds of events, magazine reports and as we see, also film shootings! This place is known as Abadía de Parraces, and** it is very close to Madrid and only 20 minutes from Segovia!**
Visit these two awesome “Casa de Papel” locations in Segovia, and you will truly feel part of the plotting of the second heist in the third part of "La Casa de Papel." The hermitage of San Frutos and its amazing views of the Hoces del Duratón Natural Park in Segovia, as well as the Abadía de Parraces will not disappoint you!
