Exploring Skadar lake is always a good idea! No matter how many times you have already been here, there will always be something that makes your next trip different and adventurous. Incredible views, hospitable people and delicious food make every visit unique and exciting. Many villages have authentic look and represent an important cultural heritage of the area. One of my favorite places is Karuč village with its surroundings.

Karuč is a small fisermen’s place situated on the banks of Skadar lake. It is one of those places where you can feel the spirit of past times and enjoy in its mesmerizing environment. Like any other village on the Skadar lake, it's tiny in size, but giant in terms of history and nature.

On the way to Karuč, a beautiful panorama on the village will make you have a huuuge dilemma whether to stay there for a while admiring the view or to hurry up down and start exploring the village.

Karuč was a temporary village from where fishermen used to go fishing as the Karučko oko (Karuč' Eye) was known for the abundance of bleak. There are still ruins of the houses that the fishermen were using to storage their nets and other equipment.

Having a mild climate and being a place where the winters are not very cold and almost never windy, Karuč was a place where even Petar I Petrović Njegoš had his winter home built. There are still ruins of this object which you can visit and admire the beautiful view.

Nowadays, the site is very popular during summer and often visited by people who are exploring nearby village Dodoši and Kraćendo or Bobija hill. Karuč village and its surroundings are definitely worth visiting while exploring the Skadar lake area.
