Discover the pretty buildings and walking paths through the park in Uccle.

Once an estate of a wealthy Brussels family who spent their summers here, Wolvendael Park is now a family friendly public park in Uccle. Close to Brussels, the park is home to an art school, playground, and a few pretty hidden gems.

Highlights

The prettiest parts of the park are two buildings. Small, but pretty, the Louis XV pavillon is a beautiful spot to stop and rest in the heart of the park. It has a small restaurant and outdoor seating in sunny weather.

The large white building at the north of the park is an art school (School Des Arts D'uccle). It’s worth walking by while you’re in the park to snap up a photo of the beautiful building. The art school also occasionally hosts small exhibits of artwork by their students.

  • Follow the Crabbegat path for a pretty, quiet narrow walking path lined by hedges and trees. Towards the end, there’s also a paved walking path
  • Wolvendael Park has two beech groves - one lies in the north of the park and the other by the river. Worth walking by for nature lovers.
  • The park is also home to a couple of interesting artworks and monuments. You can’t miss the bronze statue of Tintin and the marble relief ‘The Allegory of Spring’ by Frans Huygelen.
  • Kid friendly: in the south of the park, you’ll find Playground Wolvendael which has the usual classic slides and swings, plus a unique and cute train-shaped play area.

Tips and Tricks

  • Across the road is Bloemenwerf, a unique house that was once home to artist Henry van de Velde. Velde designed the house, inspired by the Red House of English artist William Morris.
  • The paths in the park are in good condition and pretty wide, so suitable for strollers and wheelchairs at the plateaus of the top and bottom of the park - the rest of the park can be hilly and less accessible.
