Our vision is for a self-directed, play-based space where children can decide how they spend their time and learn to build and maintain a community. It is set in an acre of diverse woodland, meadow and ponds in St Werburghs; a rich and inspiring natural environment.
Our values:
We are a small group of parents and educators with a variety of educational experience and qualifications, who are creating a communal but autonomous environment.
We are influenced by a range of educational and other philosophies, including: democratic schools; Reggio Emilia; project-based learning; non-violent communication; forest schools; Alfie Kohn (unconditional parenting/education); the maker movement (hack spaces and hack schooling); and permaculture design principles.
This project is perfect for home educators who share our values, especially those who must find time to work or study. We are also offering an alternative to mainstream schooling for those who feel they cannot or do not want to fully home educate. There is potential for wrap-around care for those who need it.
We also run a holiday club and are planning an after school club.
