**Chill out at this seaside resort with beautiful sandy beaches & relaxed vibes. Wander the border to Belgium and discover ancient shark teeth! **

Fancy an outdoorsy day out or a relaxing weekend then head over to the Netherland’s southernmost beach, Cadzand-Bad, near the Belgian-Dutch border. The town is the only seaside resort in the country certified as a spa for thalassotherapy, aka sea water therapies. It received the title ‘Heilzame Zeebadplaats’ which means ‘healing sea resort’ because of the great quality of the beaches and seawater. So, treat yourself to a spa treatment or two if you visit.

  • The coastal views and beautiful nature surrounding Cadzand make this part of the Dutch coast a great place to take a stroll all year round.
  • For the sunseekers: when summer comes around you’ll have plenty of sandy spots to choose from on the large beaches in the area. Cadzand-Bad has its own great beach or you can try out the nearby beaches of Nieuwvliet-Bad and Groede.
  • Go fossil hunting: as you wander along the beaches, be on the lookout for ancient, fossilized shark teeth amongst the sand, shells and pebbles.
  • Want more action? There are plenty of sporty activities on offer such as sailing, surfing, kite surfing, golf and beach-volleyball. For the cyclists, try out the 16km seafront route between Cadzand-Bad and Breskens, a busy, little harbour town.

A Belgian Excursion

At low tide, following the beach south west will see you hop over the border into Belgium. If you keep going for about an hour beyond the border, you’ll reach Knokke, a chic Belgian seaside town. Along the way you’ll come across the beautiful Het Zwin nature reserve, a great place for a walk in nature and one of the best spots around for bird watching.

If you don’t want to go that far then not to worry. Sample a bit of Belgian culture at one of the many eateries in and around Cadzand which serve yummy Belgian staples like waffles and mussels.
