Visit the gardens and estate of Twickel Castle on a walk or cycling trip. The castle lies in the heart of the estate, just a short drive from Delden.

• For hiking and cycling Twickel offers plenty of charming routes. Most of the trails start at the estate’s visitor’s centre, where you’ll also find car and bike parking. Mapped out routes available range from 2 km to 11 km. The castle walk of 5 km is a good choice for all ability levels and takes you through the woods. For a longer option which takes you through the heart of the estate is the 10km Umfassungsweg Route. Mountain bikers also have a 70 km option here. You can find more information here.
• Most of the time, Twickel Castle is actually closed to the public as people do live in it. Still, you can get up fairly close to it for a view of this pretty moated castle. But you can get inside on a guided tour, including entry to the castle garden and park. Not suitable for young kids! The tours have to be booked online and it’s 15€ per person. Only available in Dutch.
• The Twickel estate has over 4,000 hectares to explore. While the castle itself is a beautiful sight to see, we really recommend you wander out to see the rest. There’s two windmills here, plus a nice water tower, and almost 150 farms along the way to see.
