Grindelwald

Switzerland is known for its mountains (Alps in the south, Jura in the northwest) but it also has a central plateau of rolling hills, plains, and large lakes. The canton lies on the Swiss Plateau. The two main mountains are Gurten and Bantiger. The medieval city center of Bern has been recognised has a UNESCO Cultural World Heritage Site. The canton is home to one of the specialties of the country: the Emmental cheese. You will find many Emmental farmhouses around the canton. Besides the strong cultural heritage in Bern, there are many things to do if you are a nature lover, as the canton offers beautiful trails.
