Basel

Switzerland is known for its mountains (Alps in the south, Jura in the northwest) but it also has a central plateau of rolling hills, plains, and large lakes. Switzerland is renowned over the world for downhill skiing, and the country is also great for many other outdoor activities, including hiking and mountain biking. Mountain climbing, from easy to very hard, can also be found in Switzerland, and there is hardly another place with a longer tradition for this. Some routes, like the North face of the Eiger, have become near-mythical due to the hardships, sacrifice and even deaths suffered by the first people to climb them. And because of the breathtaking views, travelling from one place to another by car, bus, train or bike along alpine roads and railroads is often an experience in itself.

Switzerland

It’s one of the smallest cantons in Switzerland. Basel is the main city and it’s the third most populous city in the country. The city is mostly known for its international renowned museums such as Kunstmuseum, Antikenmuseum Basel und Sammlung Ludwig, Augusta Raurica Roman open-air museum and Historical Museum Basel. There are many landmarks to visit in the city such as the old town, Notre-Dame, Rathaus and the zoo. Besides the main city, the canton is home to many heavy forests.

Welcome to the Hotel-Restaurant Resslirytti
In the heart of the city of Basel
Built in 1876, the building is located in Kleinbasel am Wettsteinplatz, just a few steps from the Rhine promenade. The property was converted in 1987 by the former owner to a hotel and restaurant. The breakfast room and the reception are located directly in the adjoining building

The Italian restaurant and pizzeria is very well known and loved in Basel. One of the reasons for this are his famous wood-fired pizza pies, which are certainly far and wide unparalleled. The restaurant takes its name from the established horses ("Ressli" in Basle), which orbit the restaurant and are therefore similar to a carousel ("Rytti" in Basle German).

The property and the operation were taken over on 1 January 2011 by our family. We are very happy to be your hosts in the future
