Located in the Swiss Alps, just above the city of Aigle, Leysin sits at an altitude of 1263 meters. This ski resort is one of the highest villages in the Canton of Vaud. From the 1870’s onwards, it became a popular cure tourism destination and numerous sanatoria were built. They were later transformed into hotels and private schools. Leysin ski area is connected to Les Mosses and La Lécherette. The 100 kilometers of slopes are between 1250 and 2331 meters of altitude. A rack railway connects the resort to the main train lines in Aigle. © Wikimedia/Roland Zumbueh
