The Casino Theater Burgdorf can look back on a long history: Construction began in 1872, the first performance was already in 1874 on the stage. However, the theater received its present appearance only in 1932, on the occasion of the reconstruction of the stage and spectator area. Unlike comparable small theaters, which come up to this day with stucco and plush, they decided to build the casino in the then modern style of the "Bauhaus". Accordingly, the casino is not only remarkable in terms of its location and history, but also in terms of its exceptional interior design.
However, the theater is more than an art-historical lover object. To this day, it is an important part of the cultural life of Burgdorf and the surrounding area. In terms of content, the casino constantly strives to live up to today's standards and offers its audience an exciting and varied program in the fields of drama, opera, cabaret, children's and youth theater and concerts. The core of the programming are the 3 subscriptions (drama, music theater and cabaret), each of which offers at least 5 events. In addition to its own programming, the casino is also the host for other cultural organizers such as the Emmentaler Liebhaberbühne or the Burgdorf theater group.
