Östersund

As modern as its society is, Sweden is a country full of seemingly untouched nature and ever-present history. It was the first of a list of 29 established national parks and is part of the vast and Unesco protected terrains of Laponia, together with the national parks Padjelanta, Stora Sjöfallet and the taiga and ravines of Muddus National Park. Set out to spot elk, wolverines and more Swedish wildlife or visit in winter for a chance to see the magical Northern Lights. Kosterhavet maritime park is the place to go for lobster or seal safaris.

Sweden

Jämtland is the second largest province in Sweden. In a mountainous landscape and unspoilt nature where reindeers and other wild animals live, you can hike in the Jämtland Triangle or climb a mountain peak at Helags. All year round fishing enthusiasts can go to Gimån or Rörströmsälven. You can enjoy culture and music in Storsjöyran where big events like the biathlon and alpine skiing world cup take place. The major ski resorts in the region are Åre, Vemdalen, Funäsfjällen and Lofsdalen where you can discover alpine skiing or cross country skiing. Östersund meanwhile is a major centre for outdoor adventures. For the food lovers, you will taste in this region produce from mountains, forests and lakes.
