As modern as its society is, Sweden is a country full of seemingly untouched nature and ever-present history. First stop for many visitors is historic and compact Stockholm, full of heritage, home to the Vasa Museum and gateway to the Stockholm Archipelago.  Yet, you haven't seen Sweden until you've admired its natural side. Its wide natural landscapes offer a multitude of splendid vistas and sights, from dense forests to crystal clear lakes, waterfalls and rolling mountains. The stunning but rugged wilderness of Sarek National Park, called “Europe's last wilderness” by some, is a challenging but highly rewarding area to explore. It was the first of a list of 29 established national parks and is part of the vast and Unesco protected terrains of Laponia, together with the national parks Padjelanta, Stora Sjöfallet and the taiga and ravines of Muddus National Park. Set out to spot elk, wolverines and more Swedish wildlife or visit in winter for a chance to see the magical Northern Lights. Kosterhavet maritime park is the place to go for lobster or seal safaris.

Sweden

The seat of residence for the Skåne Governor is the city of Malmö, which is also the region’s capital. If you want to travel around Malmö have in mind that the city is best experienced by bicycle. At the heart of Malmö lie three squares, called Gustav Adolf's Square (Gustav Adolfs torg), the Big Square(Stortorget) and the Little Square (Lilla torg), all worth visiting. If you feel tired of sightseeing, relax by going to the main shopping streets Södergatan and Södra Förstadsgatan, where you can find all kinds of shops. If you happen to arrive there around Christmas, look out for pepparkakor, literally pepper cookies, but flavoured with cinnamon, ginger, molasses and cloves. Traditionally accompanied by glögg (mulled wine).

Skåne

Alunbrukets B & B is located in the charming Alunbruksby village next to Skåne's oldest coffee shop, surrounded by forests and Verkeån, which passes by. Alunbruket is part of Verkaån Nature Reserve, which is one of the largest nature reserves in southern Sweden. Both Skåneleden and Backaleden pass through Alunbruket, making Alunbruket ideal for hiking and cycling.
