Teatro Pujante

Since the twenties of the last century, there have been in Beniel successively film screening rooms and theater performances and Varietés, including the current "Booming Theatre". In 1927, Antonio Pujante builds the "Pujante Hall" as winter room, with a capacity of 650 seats, with Projector A. E. G. and Ossa VI. In 1944, the same employer opens the "Cine Pujante" with the previous building, as summer room, with a capacity of 700 seats. In 1950, on the old winter room Pujante Hall, it torn down, the Cine-Teatro Pujante was built. When dying Antonio Pujante their children inherit the company Pujante Francisco and Carmen Nicholas, and the death of Francisco takes over the film Pujante Carmen and her husband Felix Martin Iglesias. In 1982, Julian Perez Perez buys the film Carmen Pujante Nicholas and her husband Felix Martin Iglesias. Until then in private hands, the film Pujante remained open and operating until 1985. It has been cultural events and shows have been held in different genres. In 2003 the City of Beniel agreed to acquire the old building of "Cine-Teatro Pujante" for a total of 480,000 euros, for submission to restore, rehabilitate and make it available to the people, programming cultural activities: theater, music, dance , folklore, cinema projection. The architect in charge of this restoration was Don Jorge Esquer Ortín. Finally in the second half of 2007 the renovated building opened again its doors for joy and hope of the benielenses and our "neighbors" populations. In the opening ceremony was careful, especially, that all the artists who participate in it are children of the people, which contributed to the act was exciting. Economic investment has been very important. The acquisition and restoration of the building has joined the crew, minimum, and capacity-operative technicians making available a stage suitable for concerts and stage shows media. The Municipal Corporation, established by the elections of 2007 bet big on culture. That same year joined the Pujante Theatre (CAEB: "Performing Arts Center Beniel") in the network of theaters and auditoriums in the Region of Murcia, fulfilling, since positively and provided with the required programming. The answer to the City cultural proposal has gained broad acceptance by neighbors and many other people in the area of ​​influence of Beniel, from Orihuela (Alicante) to the very capital of the region.
