La Herradura, was born as a building in 1880, at a time called "of the colonies" in Spain. The Republican Government encouraged the colonization of land in the interior or depopulated areas, for which it built the railway between Murcia and Alicante. In addition, it also built the road linking Torrevieja with Albatera, linking with the Alicante-Murcia line.

In its origin, the building was an inn, due to its proximity, less than 300 meters, from the Apeadero-Station, where you could take the train that came or went to Torrevieja, to connect with other lines. At the inauguration, was present the President of the Republic at that time, Cánovas del Castillo, and a derailment took place, unimportant due to the low speeds of the time, very close to La Herradura. In the middle of summer and with the suffocating heat, the authorities sought refuge in the inn that those days was what today is La Herradura.

The restoration of the building respected the old building to the maximum. The old bread oven is preserved, the mangers where the horses ate, the pigs, where the pigs were, the rabbit hutches, where the rabbits were kept, the room, where the grain, grain and straw reserves were stored, for the animals and human consumption. A building with its own personality, which was inhabited until about 30 years ago by the farmers who looked after the surrounding lands. Subsequently, its abandonment caused the deterioration of the building to accelerate, beginning its restoration on 1997, finishing it at the end of 1999.

The building, at present, is impeccably preserved, returning to its original use, but of lodging, if of restaurant. We can see a collection of weighing tools of the time and the charms of a typical Spanish construction of the late nineteenth century. It is a museum in itself and can be visited as such.
