SALADS OF BURADÓN
Salinillas stands out for its location on a plateau above the Ebro River and its well-preserved defensive wall. The saline spring that gives the name was an important source of wealth for this ancient village that is manifested in the good factory of their homes. Keeping the passage of the Ebro towards the plains of La Rioja, Salinillas is located in the south of the province of Álava, just on the border with La Rioja and the province of Burgos. Its wall gives it the defensive character it had in the Middle Ages when it was founded by King Alfonso X the Wise in 1264. The small plateau that occupies and provides defensive advantage, serves as a balcony over the Ebro valley. As a historic step between the Alava plains and Riojan lands, it hosts one of the branches of the Camino de Santiago, the one that goes down from Guipúzcoa, crossing the San Adrián pass at the foot of the Aizkorri, and goes to Santo Domingo de la Calzada. This step function is reinforced by locating the national road N-124 and the AP-68 motorway between Vitoria and Logroño.
