Many folklore tells a story of a magical spring that gives its drinker powers.

It can be the speciality of immortality - alas, Tuck Everlasting. A similar airy setting would be Divje Jezero, also known as the Karst Spring from Bovec. Divje Jezero is a deep blue karst spring, specially created by a natural overflowing of karst limestone groundwater onto this forestry surface.

Since Divje Jezero is off the main road between Logatec and Idrija, it’s often overlooked by travellers as it’s mostly only visited by Slovenians in the know. Though, don’t be deterred - the spring is just a short walk from the main road, making it a literal hidden gem in plain sight.

Adding to the spring’s mystery that not many onlookers know about is a cave that dwells deep below the water. The cave has been explored before - but only up to 164 metres deep, even though the cavern continues well beyond it into unknown depths.
