The Slovene Ethnographic Museum is the country’s primary ethnological museum that preserves and studies collections of artifacts related to both Slovenian culture and other cultures worldwide.
The main objective of the Slovene Ethnographic Museum is to present the traditional culture of Slovenian inhabited areas, as well as preserve, discover, study, and comprehend artefacts that are related to both Slovenian culture and cultures throughout the world. The museum aims to be a link between the past and present cultures, and compare Slovenian cultures with others!
There are many interesting exhibits in this museum. If you’re into art, make sure to check out the permanent Slovenian folk art exhibit that analyzes the art relating it to traditional Slovenian culture! For nature lovers, there is an enticing permanent exhibit called ‘Between Nature and Culture’ which dives deep into how where people were born directly influences their culture. The final permanent exhibit is called ‘I, We, and Others: Exhibitions of the World’, which is a fascinating exhibition that attempts to explain man's place in the world, and what the meaning of heritage is.
The museum also has cultural workshops that can be booked in advance for kids, such as pottery and weaving classes. This is a fun, interactive experience that your children are sure to love during their visit to the Slovene Ethnographical Museum.
