**The beautiful Venetian style church exemplifies the historical connections between Piran and Venice. **
Built over 500 years ago, the Church of St. George remains one of the most famous in the small port city, and also one of the most important monuments in Piran. Designed in a completely Venetian Renaissance style, the architects even made a small replica of the St. Mark’s Cathedral in Venice when designing the bell tower for Piran’s church.
While the church isn’t incredibly ornate from the outside, and has more of a simplicity approach to the design, don’t miss some of the incredible interiors of the church, including frescoes painted by some of the finest Venetian artists of the time. You can also climb up the bell tower for panoramic views of Piran.
