** A one of a kind museum that is dedicated to the heritage and history of mercury mining. **
Anthony’s Shaft mine used to be one of the largest and most important mercury mines in the world. At the time, it was the second largest producer of mercury in the whole world, and helped facilitate the production of various important industries, such as the production of batteries, mirrors, and dental fillings.
At this unique museum, you can see the underground chambers and learn about the history of mercury mining. The exhibits include technological innovations that contributed to the rise of mining, and artefacts, tools, and equipment that were commonly used back then.
For a more hands-on experience, the museum offers educational programs and workshops for children and adults. This is a great way to learn more about the history and science of mercury mining in a different way.
