Santa Catarina

Like most of Lisbon's neighbourhoods, Santa Catarina was built on the slope

of a hill, which means you'll walk up and down everywhere you go, but also

that the habitations and open areas here are perfect for wide,

beautiful viewpoints of the city. A very frequented place, Santa Catarina is

known for its activity during the day, and specially its night-time agitation due to the bars scattered around and its proximity to Bairro Alto. Santa Catarina also has its own special landmarks, like the Miradouro de Santa Catarina, one of the favored meeting points of the locals and tourists alike, and the famous Bica, with its funicular, cafes and shops along the street. Central to the entire area is the Calçada do Combro, a street that follows the upper side of the neighbourhood and is always full of a diverse crowd of people.
