Parreirinha de Alfama

Parreirinha de Alfama opened in 1950 as a restaurant, and since the beginning the house held fado shows to accompany the excellent cuisine. It belongs to Argentina Santos, a renowned Fado Castiço singer. Many great fado and poetry figures passed here, being part of the show or attentive costumers. The original philosophy has been maintained, throughout its history: from locals to locals, and all foreigners are invited too. The song is kept alive each night, with three singers: two young and an older one. In Parreirinha de Alfama, silence has always played an important role. Along with its small dimension, the mosaic decoration and traditional manners of the waiters and cuisine, the restaurant provides an intimate, authentic and inviting atmosphere.
