The Museum of Warsaw was established in 1936. Its main office is 11 historic tenement houses on the Old Town Square, entered since 1980 on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The Museum of Warsaw is also 9 branches, including the Prague Museum of Prague, the Center for Interpretation of the Museum and the Museum of Printing.

For 80 years, the Warsaw Museum's mission is to collect, store, prepare and make available collections connected with Warsaw. Conducting exhibitions, research, publishing, educational and cultural activities, the museum accompanies the audience in learning the phenomenon of Warsaw.

Since 2014, the Odin project is underway, including the modernization, conservation and digitization of historic museum objects, as well as the implementation of the new main exhibition. The opening ceremony of the Museum of Warsaw took place on 26-28 May 2017.
