Discover a small castle, alongside the river the Vecht.
Right outside of Utrecht, in Oud-Zuilen, Castle Zuylen is situated. The castle owes its name to Steven van Zuylen, who started building a tower around the year 1250. In the 14th and 15th century, the tower got different owners and in the beginning of the 15th century, it was destroyed.
For about a hundred years, the tower was nothing but a ruin, but in 1525 this was changed by Count Willem van Rennenberg, who built a moated castle in Gothic style. In the late 19th century the castle got renovated again, and got the look it has today.
Discover the beautiful garden and the spectacular interior, that shows the different times that the castle has been lived in. Visit one of the exhibitions the castle offers, or take a tour and learn more about the history of this beautiful building.
