In one of the most beautiful neighbourhoods in Utrecht, you will find a romantic park, full of old trees, that is popular with all ages. Surrounded by mansions and city villas, this place is perfect to hang out, go for a run, or have a barbecue. Wilhelminapark was opened in 1898, and was named after Queen Wilhelmina, who was inaugurated the same year. During World War II, the name of the park changed temporarily to Nassaupark (Nassau is the family name of the Dutch royal family). After this it changed back to Wilhelminapark, the park that was one of the first ones in the Netherlands to become a national monument, and the park Utrecht knows today as one of the most beloved places of the city.
