**Visit a fully restored 19th century windmill and museum on the edges of Winterswijk. **

• Are you really visiting the Netherlands if you don’t see at least one windmill? Over the years, Molen Bataaf has been fully restored and is now a hidden gem of Dutch culture. Nestled next to a lake, Molen Bataaf is also a nice spot to visit for photographers.
• Molen Bataaf has a bit more than the usual windmill trappings. Step inside to see an exhibit all about the Scholten farming families. Track their history from the Middle Ages all the way up to the 1800s, when their power and influence grew.
• The windmill is free to visit, but donations are welcome. Close to Winterswijk, Stichting Molen Bataaf is a highlight along many cycling trails. We recommend the beginner-friendly Molen de Bataaf Loop where you’ll see two mills along the way.
