**Uncover the dark history of Arnhem’s medieval past at the gatehouse hidden in plain sight. **
- Known as Eusebiuspoort to the locals, this gatehouse was once part of a mighty and sinister fortress in the Middle Ages. Unfortunate souls deemed insane were locked away here alongside criminals
- Sabelspoort is one of the few remains of Arnhem’s medieval past. It dates back to the 14th century! This part of the city was bombed in World War II, destroying most of the houses around it. Even the gate had to be rebuilt.
- The gate is just a quick walk from the city centre, so it’s worth a look while you’re there. There’s not too much to do at the gatehouse, though. Tip! On the info panel on the side of the gate, there’s a QR code you can scan for more info if you’d like. Available in Dutch, German, and English.
