This must-visit site in Delft is the home of the very well-known blue and white porcelain pottery. This fully functioning factory doubles as a museum full of historic pieces and the opportunity to see inside the factory where things are poured and finished.
At the start of the visit, watch 2 short films showing the history of this fascinating company and the process of how porcelain goods are made. The total duration of the museum is 1 hour where you will walk through the factory and the different exhibitions which cover Dutch historical events over the past 400 years with a self-guided tour.
- You will have a peek inside the working area of the factory and see how much effort is going into the original pieces. And you can trust that watching the Tradesmen still practicing their trade can likely give you a better appreciation for these handmade products.
- Painting workshops: Painting tile, plates, and other DIY projects are each a separate workshop offered at Royal Delft where you will be led in practicing the authentic traditional designs by paint for a truly exceptional memory-producing souvenir.
- At the end of the visit, you can head into the gift shop where you can find higher-end and hand-painted true Royal delftware as well as some less expensive options and some Miffy dolls.
- Stop by the cozy cafe where you can have high tea in Royal Delft porcelain with sweet or savory baked goods and more.
