This urban park is also known as the "forest of the poles".
Located behind the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam, Park Schinkeleilanden has plenty to do - a favourite spot amongst Amsterdammers, and specifically, the locals of the Zuid neighbourhood. There are tennis clubs, football clubs, bridge clubs, water sports clubs, an athletics track, a marina and a football island.
The wooden poles jutting out of the park's water serve as a cool design but also double as an ecological function, protecting the shallow underwater habitat in this area. Underneath the poles, fishes are able to spawn!
Walk, play, picnic or laze in the grass on the park island or nature island or cycle to the Amsterdamse Bos from here. There is even a railway line of the Electric Museum Tram Line Amsterdam to check out nearby.
