A nature reserve of 250 acres with a beautiful watch tower and walking trails. Visit in the summer to see the butterfly garden!
Park Berg en Bos is a 250 acre nature reserve that’s full of life, cultural surprises, and walking trails. There’s a clear map at the beginning of the trails - all are quite beginner friendly - but you can also find some of them here. The reserve lies on the very edges of the Veluwe hills, so there’s plenty of nature to see on your trek.
Don’t miss the watch tower. Walk to the left of Jubileumlaan and you’ll find a tall tower of 26m overlooking Berg en Bos. Climb up to the top for a great view of the park. If the weather is clear, the city of Zwolle can be seen on the horizon. There’s also a playground for kids, plus a butterfly garden that’s best seen in the summer.
As you wander through the park's 250 acres, you’re sure to see the pond. The longest reigning Dutch monarch, Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands, actually spent a lot of time painting right here on the Stone Bank.
