Immerse yourself in a world of modern art. Enter into the art-tastic contemporary museum of MOCO, an independent museum that holds classic and independent art you need to see.

Admit it: it can be overwhelming trying to figure out which museums to visit in a city. Maybe you want something a little different from what’s thrown at you from every tourist desk? We’re here to help, and recommend the boutique museum for modern, contemporary, and street art: Moco Museum. It’s got the quality of a museum with the charm of being a smaller, more intimate in an astounding mansion.

  • A boutique museum is basically a space dedicated for art that focuses on certain collections, fields, or ideas by recognized artists. The museum is situated in Villa Alsberg, which is a manor conveniently located in the heart of Amsterdam.
  • The Moco Museum is privately owned and operated by the Logchies--a couple who choose carefully cultivated art pieces from art collectors around the world. The museum donates the proceeds to different charities: meaning you get to experience incredible art for a good cause!
  • All the art you need: although his identity remains a mystery, there are few modern artists as well known as Banksy. The Moco Museum has been given permission to display a collection of Banksy’s pieces. Some other artists you can find throughout Moco include: Jean-Michel Basquiat, KAWS, Keith Haring, Jeff Koons, Yaoyi Kusama, and even Andy Warhol. Moco’s latest addition is a collaboration with Studio Irma. Reflecting Forward is a digital immersive art exhibit that focuses on connections and how it will impact the future. Connect all the art styles and ideas yourself after visiting Moco!

Going to the Moco Museum was one of the highlights of my trip to Amsterdam. Super interesting selections, especially the pieces by Banksy. My favorite parts were the outdoor garden sculptures and the 3-D pop art room!
