Housed inside the former LEGO Nederland is a museum still devoted to LEGO. See more LEGO sets than you can carry in Grootegast!

LEGO!

Spend a day in Grootegast going back to your childhood roots. Discover the history of LEGO in person! Stroll through a whole building of toy sets from as far back as the 1930s. The LEGO sets are displayed pretty much in order of release date.. As you go, you’ll see iconic local buildings made from LEGO bricks too including Groningen’s Martini Tower and town hall.

This is a great rainy day option for you and the kids. There are a couple of interactive parts where you can build your own LEGO creations, plus a kids playing area. A visit to the museum takes around an hour, but lucky for you you get a three-in-one deal when you enter this place. Pay to access the museum and you get into the printing house and war museum too!

The museum building itself was once owned by the LEGO company. It no longer is, but you’ll find some traces of the company's past and history around the museum.

Museumplein Grootegast

LEGiO Museum is actually part of Museumplein Grootegast - three museums under one roof! After paying for entry, you also have access to a WWII museum (The Victory Museum) and the interactive Museum Printer which has typewriters you can use and a printing press on display. Overall, we think LEGiO Museum is the unique highlight to see here but the others are worth a look if you’ve got the time.
