**A mysterious ancient burial site just outside of Emmen! Hunebed D45 rests atop a hill, tucked away near the woodlands of Drenthe. **

  • Surrounded by a pretty forest and hidden to most apart from those who wander out to the woodlands of Drenthe is a mysterious set of stones. Located 15 minutes away on foot from Emmen train station, the dolmen is 18m long and lies atop a hill.
  • Since the dolmen is an old burial site, we don’t recommend standing on top of it. Luckily this place is mostly untouched by tourists - you get to enjoy a hidden gem of Drenthe.
  • The dolmen is easily reached; lucky for you there’s actually a free car park just up the road. From the car park, you pass through a walking path of the forest (the Matenpad). After visiting the burial site, why not visit the woodlands for a while?
