**Discover an underground piece of history at the square of the Dom Tower. **
At Dom Square is where the city of Utrecht began, in 50 A.D. Back then, Utrecht was a fort of the Roman Empire. In 690, bishop Willibrord established the Utrecht that we know today, and two churches were built on his behalf: the Dom Church and the Saint Salvator Church. Later more churches were built, but the Dom Church still remains the most famous one of the city.
In 1674 a huge storm hit the church, and destroyed a big part of it, which separated the Dom church from the Dom tower. The part that was destroyed is now Dom Square.
Under the Dom, the tower of Utrecht, lies the 2000 years old hidden heritage of the Dom Square, which you can experience at DOMunder. With a tour you will learn about the fascinating history of Utrecht, underground, at the historical heart of the city. If you’re a history lover, definitely give DOMunder a visit!
