Visit one of the Netherlands largest vineyards, in the heart of Zeeland. Tour the winery, have a glass or two and try some culinary local treats.
A Dutch winery, you heard right. Yes, the Dutch are making quality wine, KLM even serves De Kleine Schorre’s wines to their business class customers. Sounds good to us!
De Kleine Schorre winery is on Zeeland’s northernmost peninsula, Schouwen-Duiveland. The 10-hectare vineyard is one of the largest in the country. They make a range of Dutch wines which you can try alongside Zeeland’s culinary delicacies in the cozy tasting room.
Take a taste of Zeeland back home with you. Head to the farm shop afterwards to pick up a bottle of your favorite De Kleine Schorre wine.
Tours and Tastings
During the summer De Kleine Schorre runs guided tours for individual visitors and small groups. Between May 15th and September 15th, tours take place every Wednesday at 3pm. For 6.50€, you get a guided tour of the winery and a glass of wine.
Zeeland Wine Festival
In summer, around the end of July and the beginning of August, the winery hosts the Zeeland Wine Festival or ‘Zeeuws Wijnfeest’. Two days of wine, food and entertainment in the winery grounds.
This festival isn’t just about the wine. Catch a live music performance, visit the ‘beach bar’, try riding a pony, visit the selfie spot and even go on a helicopter ride. At previous festivals, they have arranged for the Dinner in the Sky experience to be held at the festival. So, there’s plenty of non-wine related reasons to go!
Zeeuws Wijnfeest is a truly local festival and is great fun. We highly recommend stopping by if you’re in and around Zeeland in the summertime. Stay up to date with the festival info here.
