This former factory now holds different organisations as a cool industrial space.
The former Oil and Flaxseed cookies Factory Cereol dates back to 1908.
Located on a pristine canal stonethrow from Utrechts' city centre, this factory was used to extract oil from flax seeds. In 1973, the factory went bankrupt and was taken over by an international company. From then on, the factory started producing soy.
In 2001 the factory became a national monument, and the city of Utrecht bought it.
Thankfully, it remained well-preserved and honours its heritage. Today it has several organisations situated in it, such as a restaurant, a school, and a library that you can visit each day and read from their cosy knooks.
