Find out what all the buzz is about with Flevoland’s land reclamation: an interactive museum filled with Dutch artifacts, and the reconstruction of a 17th century trading ship!

  • It’s time to learn a thing or two about Flevoland! Drowned villages, lost land, and wrecked ships highlight The Netherlands’ relationship with water. Exhibitions on reclamation, dams, overseas trade, and Dutch exports can all be discovered in this educational museum perfect for the whole family.
  • The notorious Batavialand shipyard: Outside of the museum is the replica of the Batavia, the Dutch East India Company ship historically known for wrecking off the coast of Australia. Now visitors can climb aboard the replica and get familiar with how the Dutch sailed back in the day. The Yard: If you’re yearning for more learning, head over to the yard, to get a look at workshops like carving, rigging, model building, and sailmaking.
  • Perfect for families: Batavialand is all about education, but makes sure it’s presented in a fun way geared towards kids and families. Bring the youngsters along to learn about shipbuilding, make crafts, watch live performances, experience how water maintenance works in the water theater, and even learn how to read a treasure map!
