**Located on the beach of Ballum, the Ballumer Blinkert observation point makes a great starting area for any walk across the beach. **

  • Ballumer Blinkert lies a 35 minute walk away from the more popular beach pavilion of Ballum (“Strandpaviljoen Ballum”). Blinkert is a small observation point with views of the beach. Cyclists and trekkers often begin their journey here, since it’s conveniently located near a car park.
  • Though the observation point is mostly used as a starting point for beach walks and cycling trips, Blinkert is also close to the hiking area of Krûmeltjesspoor. This wooded area has some quirky trees and art along its trails. Krûmeltjesspoor is popular with families,
  • Ballum’s beach itself is a good sight to see! It’s a large stretch of sand with some dunes along the way. Although it’s a bit more popular in the summer, Ballum doesn’t get the tourist crowds of Ameland. The island of Ameland lies just off the coast of the Netherlands and is easily reached on the ferry. Ameland is a good pick since it’s basically in the middle and is known for its sandy beaches. Ballumer Blinkert really captures the spirit of this dune-packed West Frisian island.
