Watch the Netherlands most popular city light up in the night sky during this beloved winter festival!

  • The 10th anniversary of the Amsterdam Light Festival returns! Since 2012 the city of Amsterdam has held a winter time festival committed to the light art discipline. They work with permanent light art year round in international cities, and with special projects involving young students encouraged to help with the light installations. The truly magical sight, though, is when it all comes together for the annual Christmas festival!
  • For this year’s event, the festival plans to bring together the best, most inspiring pieces of light artwork from over the past nine years. They will be spread out along the famous Amsterdam canals, so there’s no way you’ll want to miss it! Tip: Make sure to check out their website to find a map of all the light installations!
  • Want to find the best way to enjoy the lights? You’ve got options! If you’re up for the walk, it’s about 6.5km and can be spotted from 18:30 onwards. If you’re looking for something a little quicker, why not travel like the Dutch? Take a canal cruise or open boat tour and glide through the water for a 75 minute ride under the glistening lights!
