Bendery Fortress, Transnistria

Bendery Fortress is an architectural monument of the 16th century. It is located on the right bank of Dniester River in the city of Bender, Transnistria (Moldova). Construction of the fortress began in 1538, after the entry of Bendery into the Ottoman Empire, according to the project of the Turkish architect Sinan. From 2008 to the present, the citadel is under the reconstruction.
