OBJECTIVES: • Promote and execute strategic programs and projects that allow the practice and appreciation of the arts and culture in its different manifestations • Host exhibitions; impart lectures, seminars and workshops; perform concerts and film cycles, and other activities of its own • Promote artistic and cultural exchange with public or private, state, national and / or foreign institutions, encouraging their participation in the programs and projects of the museum. • Collaborate with the public, social and private sectors in the consolidation of the cultural development of the community.
HISTORY: Sonora is an entrepreneurial state with an important push in the promotion of projects and the generation of wealth. It is also one of the largest states in the country, a situation that demands a cultural infrastructure commensurate with this development, with the implementation of programs and projects that promote artistic and cultural growth and improve the quality of life of its inhabitants. The intention of this architectural complex is to improve the existing culture infrastructure which allows to gather in the same area several buildings for art, culture and recreation. The project of a large cultural complex located in the city of Hermosillo, Sonora. Its conception was consolidated over several years, finally materializing with the acquisition of land, the definition of architectural projects and the bidding of several of these spaces. The construction of the Sonora Museum of Art began in June 2008 and its opening to the public took place in September 2009. The Museum of Art of Sonora is a space for the dissemination and promotion of art and culture that seeks to strengthen people, providing meaningful experiences that help improve their relationship with the environment. Its mission is to raise the dialogue between various national and international artistic expressions through its exhibitions, and to invigorate the cultural spaces of the State and the region. The design of MUSAS was in charge of Sonoran architects, and the building has about 5 thousand square meters of construction divided into four levels. It has large circulation areas, internal patios, spaces for services, warehouses and workshops, as well as office and living area as well as 6 impressive exhibition halls.
