A one-way route for road traffic across the Pétrusse.
Also known as New Bridge, this double-arch bridge spans more than 85m at a height of 42m. It was given the nickname of ‘New Bridge’ because at the time, there was an older bridge that had been built in 1861. Even now that Pont Adolphe is over 100 years old, Luxembourgers still call it the ‘New Bridge’. Pont Adolphe is the perfect place for a romantic evening stroll and to enjoy the beautiful view of the city.
Named after Grand Duke Adolphe, the bridge was erected between 1900-1903 and used to be the longest arch bridge in the world. You can walk, drive, or cycle across or take the tram. The bridge has been refurbished multiple times in order to replace the railings, refit the entire bridge to accommodate an electric tram, and widen the bridge by 60cm on both sides.
The Adolphe Bridge also has over 8,000 individual bulbs to light the entire bridge.
