**This cosy square attracts tourists and locals alike with plenty of cafes and restaurants to enjoy. **
Also known as ‘Parlour of the City’, Place d’Armes was completed in 1671 by Governor Jean Charles de Landas and originally used as a garrison parade ground for French troops. Now, it is an important public space for locals and tourists to come together for food, a concert, or a festival. Under Louis XIV, the square was paved with flagstones and bordered with lime trees. Nazi officers during World War II used the Place d’Armes as a meeting place.
Parlour of the City is centrally located right in the Old Town, and this entire square is a pedestrian-only zone. With great places to eat for all budgets, soak up the atmosphere with your favourite food and people-watch!
There are fountains and several benches for visitors to sit and relax. There are also two monuments dedicated to Dicks and Michel Lentz, Luxembourgish poets. The square is known for its ghost stories dating back centuries, so beware!
