If you like history and cities, Vilnius, its capital, will be for you the place to be. With more than 65 churches, and numerous historic buildings, Vilnius is the perfect spot to admire a range of architectural styles, from gothic to renaissance, from baroque to neoclassical. If you would rather relax at the seaside, go to Palanga. It has some great beaches and beautiful sand dunes. Curonian Split is another must see of the country. It’s a small sand dune which separates the Curonian Lagoon from the Baltic Sea. The Lithuanian landscape is dominated by blooming meadows, forests (one third of the country), 3,000 lakes, and fertile fields of cereals. Wildlife is everywhere, with animals such as roe deers, boars, deers… Aukstaitija National Park is a must if you want to get close to nature.

Plateliai town is located next to Plateliai lake and in the written sources, it was mentioned from the 15th century, while in the 18th century, this little town got the Magdeburg rights, and untill nowadays it keeps this privileged spirit. Even though a tiny town (just 1000 inhabitant), it has several things to see - the central square with the Sant Peters and Pauls Church, various statues, a yacht club, the Plateliai Manor homestead.
