
The first museum in Lazdijai was founded by the director Motiejus Gustaitis in 1924, under the direction of the old "Ziburys" gymnasium. He trained a number of place names, ethnographers, ethnographers, exhibits of works of art, archaeological finds, folk art pieces, and gave valuable books, manuscripts, original paintings to the museum. The city's emblem of the privilege granted to the city of Augusto Lazdijai was destroyed in 1936 by the state-run gymnasium. The Salomėja Neris Museum was founded in 1974, and the Motiejus Gustaitis Memorial Museum - in the 1990s. February 27th 1995m the Museum of History, Culture and Education was founded in 2004. The museum itself is the most valuable exhibit in the area of education of Lazdijai region, which is the old Ziburys gymnasium, which laid the foundations for the whole science of Dzukija region the development of culture. The hall is equipped with authentic 20th century. the beginning of the gymnasium class, in which the benches, board and the whole environment resemble the spirit of that period. Visitors can get acquainted with the most famous educators of this land, famous people of art, culture, science, who studied or lived in Lazdijai. The museum contains descriptions and photographs of ethnographic, ancient architecture, manors and historical monuments.
