The museum was founded as a Latvian Museum of Decorative Decorative Applied Arts, and houses mainly decorative arts and design works created by Latvian artists. The museum's collection consists of seven collections: textile art, ceramics and porcelain, metal art, leather art, decorative wood art, glass art and the latest - design collection.
